TAIYI (DIANA) KUO, PH.D.
Assistant Professor
Taiyi (Diana) Kuo is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior at University of California Davis. She started her lab in 2022 to investigate the mechanism of pancreatic beta cell failure in type 2 diabetes, with a multi-omics approach leveraging human and mouse genetics and epigenetics.
Kuo joined University California Davis after conducting postdoctoral research at Columbia University with Professor Domenico Accili, where she was a recipient of Russell Berrie Foundation Scholars Award, Dokmanovic-Chouinard Award for Excellence in Research, and NIH NIDDK K01 Award. At Columbia, she developed and validated methods utilizing epigenetics to deconvolute transcription factor network, and to better translate findings in mouse models to humans.
Kuo received her B.A. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from University of California Berkeley. She received her Ph.D. in Endocrinology and Metabolic Biology from University of California Berkeley, where she elucidated interactions between glucocorticoid receptor signaling and insulin signaling to finding a selective anti-inflammatory agent without its metabolic adverse effect. Kuo was a recipient of the California Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program Dissertation Award.
